Do you deliver?

When can I pick up the cake?

Times can be arranged to suit your needs. Please discuss at the time of booking. Pickup and delivery is available on Sundays.

How much do the cakes cost?

Cakes are priced according to design, the number of servings and the detail required in completing and decorating your cake. There is no set price as many designs can be altered to suit the size of your function. For example; a 4 tier wedding cake may be too large for your event, but tiers can be substituted for dummy cakes. Therefore you can have the look and design but not all the excess cake. This will then reflect on the final cost.

Can I alter or add to my design after ordering?

A design change can be made with prior notice. For example; if you wish to change the cake flavour a minimum 2 week notice is required. If you wish to change colours, add tiers or sizes a minimum 4 week notice is required. Additional fees may apply.

Is a deposit required?

A 30% deposit is required on all cake bookings to confirm your order. This deposit will be non-refundable in the event of a cancellation. Payments can be made in cash or via bank transfer. Final payment must be made on pick up of the cake or for delivered wedding cakes 7 days prior to the event.

What are your serving sizes?

There are 2 main serving sizes used for the calculation of your wedding cake.
Coffee serves: 1 inch (2.5cm) x 1 inch (2.5cm) by the height of the cake.
Dessert serves: 1 inch (2.5cm) x 3 inch (7.5cm) by the height of the cake.

Cake heights are generally 3 inches high – unfilled.

In some cases you require a serving size larger then coffee but less than a dessert serve. This is especially useful for birthday cakes and other events. Therefore the serving size can be calculated on the following:
Party serve: 1 inch (2.5cm) x 2 inch (5cm) by the height of the cake.

All cakes are cut across the cake not as wedge serves.

Can I view more of your work?

Visit Cake Culture on Face book to view the full galleries. All cakes can also be viewed in photo albums by appointment.

How do I care for my cake?

Cake Culture cakes do not like being refrigerated as they sweat and the colours can run. Keep the cake in the coolest room available (air conditioning is best) before the event.

I am not sure what cake I want. Can you design/create something completely different from your gallery?
There are endless designs and possibilities with cakes. Many designs can be altered, added to or changed to suit. You may have a picture of something you like but wish to change the details. You may wish to incorporate your invitation into the design of your cake or have a specific colour theme. If you are unable to find what you want in the Cake Culture collection, please make an appointment with Anne-maree to discuss your needs.

Can you make gluten or dairy-free cakes?

Although Cake Culture attempts to accommodate all needs, at this stage we cannot make 100% gluten free or diary free cakes. Some recipes may not contain dairy or flour but it should be noted, that before the fondant is added to the cake, a layer of ganache is smoothed on the cake. Therefore diary would be involved.

Should I use fresh or icing flowers?

The choice comes down to personal taste and budget, but both can be accommodated. It is not feasible to mix them together on the same cake since flower moisture can melt the sugar icing. There is a price difference between the two and icing flowers are generally more expensive as they are handmade. Fresh flowers create a beautiful natural look and maintain a consistent theme throughout your event. If you are wishing to use fresh flowers that match your wedding flowers, you will need to arrange this with your florist. The arrangements will need to be delivered to Cake Culture so they may be placed correctly onto your cake.

Cake Culture can also arrange fresh floral arrangements on your behalf, but this will only be costed once you advise exactly what flowers you are after. Cake Culture will then work with their preferred floral designer to obtain a cost. It is important to remember that seasonality can determine the flowers that are available.

When should I book my cake?

For wedding cakes a minimum 4 month notice is preferred. This is to allow time for ordering of special items or making of sugar flowers. In some instances, 2 months notice is possible for the booking of your wedding cake. It is important to note that bookings are limited per date and it is best to secure your cake as soon as you are sure of what you want. Bookings can be made as far as 12 months in advance.
For corporate, birthday or other occasions 2- 4 weeks’ notice is required. In some cases due to the design of a cake, 2 months notice is required to ensure availability of special decorative items to complete your cake.
Late requests can be accommodated depending on pre-bookings. It is always worth asking!
